A plan for Khmer happy New Year

During the Khmer New Year is a wonderful time for Cambodian people. They usually celebrate it for three days in the middle of April, which is the best time in a year because the people have already harvested their rice crops. Next year I'm planning to visit my relatives in Battambang, which is an agricultural province in the north-west of Cambodia, during the Khmer Happy New Year. I want to visit there because one of my uncles there told me that it was really exiting during the festival, and the people were marvelous. I am going to travel by bus with some of my friends. I hope the journey will take along time to get there, and it will be very safe, we are staying in my uncle's house for a week. so we will have more time to do a lot of things there, playing Khmer traditional games and visiting some attractive places. I expect we will have a good time and get wonderful experiences from the people in Battambang.

Importance of forests

Cambodia is one of the countries which is in tropical area in the south-east Asia. This geographical feature is good for all kind of trees to grow. Forests are important for people and animals lives, therefore what what are the importance of forests. For the importance is that forests are oxygen producer that make the atmosphere clean and it is comfortable for people to breath. An other thing, forests can stop increasing the heat of the earth. On the other hand, they attract a lot of rain and keep land fertile which are important for people to plant rice and other crops support their lives. If you cut down a lot of forests, there will be a lot of natural disasters like storms, drought, floods which can damage people and government's properties such as crops, roads, bridges, homes and the people will be poorer and poorer. Moreover, forests create wonderful views for tourists. The most important point is that forests are used for building and making luxurious furniture and they are the homes of all kinds of animals. All in all, forests are the most important thing for out lives, so we have to prevent and plant more.

A plan for a Kathen festival

Kathen ceremony, which Cambodian people usually celebrate every year in every pagoda in Cambodia from October to November, is one of religious festivall Next year my family and relatives are planning to have a Kathen in a pagoda in my father's hometown, which is about fifteen kilometers to the south of the centre of Takeo province. The Kathen is going to be held in my house in phnom penh, so we we are going to invite a lot of friends and relatives to the Kathen there. A day before starting the Kathen, we are going to the market in the morning to buy ropes, candles, incenses, milk, tea, food and other presents for the monks. Then in the afternoon, we are going to serve food and drink for the guest in my house. In the evening, we are going to invite some monks to preach and to teach us about the Buddha. In the next early morning, we are going to prepare the presents into the truck and buses and then go through the city to the pagoda. I hope we will have a good time in the pagoda and meet a lot our relatives there.

Bad-effects of HIV

HIV is a serious, incurable disease which has been spreading all over the world, especially in development countries. There are several disadvantages of having HIV in families and societies. Firstly, if someone has this illness, he or she will suffer in the present time until after life. Having HIV brings worries and hopelessness to the family. The families with are looked down on and hated by many people. On the other hand, if this disease is in the poor families, they will have more and more difficulties, and all the responsibilities will be taken by the children. Some of the children have to drop school to look after their parents and to earn money for their families. It is dangerous for them to work hard at the very young age. Having HIV in the country, the government will spend a lot of money on people with HIV in hospitals and buying medicine and other material for them. Moreover, our country will lose human resource to develop and prevent our own country. As we see the bad effects of HIV, so people must keep away from HIV.

Visiting a Kathen

Kathen is a the name of a religious ceremony which Cambodian people always celebrate every year in every pagoda for one night and a half from October to november. Last year my family and my relatives went to a kathen in a pagoda in my hometown which is about fifteen kilometers to the south of the center of Takeo province. The Kathen was celebrated on Saturday, so it was a good time for us to go there because it was our holiday. We rented a bus which could take all of us there. In the early morning at 5:00 on that Sunday, we gathered at my house, and got on the bus. We were putting on beautiful, traditional clothes. It took almost three hours to get to the pagoda because we all live in the city. Reaching the pagoda at 8:00 in the morning was really wonderful to visit the Kathen; it was beautiful day, the sky was blue and the sun was shining brightly. There were so many people, walking around in the pagoda. It was really a good experience to visit at Kathen last year with our relatives.
